Handling one’s health can be complicated, especially when worried about medication side effects. There is another way.
Reiki healing, also known as the healing touch, is derived from two Japanese words: “Rei” which translates to “Higher Power” and “ki” (which is the Japanese translation of the term “qi” or “chi”) meaning life force.
According to the Reiki ideology, restoring one’s life force to the proper level is essential because that life force nourishes the cells in our bodies, and therefore, us.
Generally, Western thinkers see science as devoid of religion, similar to the American government’s motto about the separation of church and state. But in fact, there is scientific evidence to support the effectiveness of Reiki healing in aiding specific health maladies. This evidence gives credit to Reiki as a spiritual healing that has proven positive impacts in people’s lives. What is also intriguing about Reiki healing, is its potential for self-empowerment and ownership over one’s health. For example, in Reiki healing, negative thoughts can lessen one’s life force and lead to emotional and physical stress. But that means the same holds true for the opposite. In Reiki, all one has to do to start improving their health is change their thoughts from negative to positive.
Restoring Your Emotional Well-being
Reiki has been known to help people heal emotionally, and increase a person’s empathy and deeper connections with others. If a person is going through a physically debilitating challenge in life, they may feel emotionally neglected, which minimizes what they are experiencing.
In recent times hospitals have allowed Reiki healers to assist in treatment because the approach (laying of hands, or stretching hands towards someone) is non-invasive, and it makes an impact on the patient’s overall experience.
Healing someone emotionally can also impact their physical well-being. For example, if someone has stressed induced irregular heart rhythms, digestive issues, eating disorders or problems related to sex, those symptoms can be improved with Reiki healing by merely alleviating the cause: stress.
Reiki healing has been said to cure infectious diseases, in surprising ways. For example, while relieving anxiety in a patient, the Reiki healer is also in the process of improving the patient’s physical well-being. Regardless of how restoring the life force energy of the patient alleviated their symptoms, there is recorded testimony of Reiki’;s effectiveness. Many patients claim that Reiki either eased their discomfort associated with their illness or made a difference when supplemented with other treatments. Some of these successful treatment stories are from with people who have had cancer. They were not cured of their disease, but Reiki healing lessened their pain and fatigue, which are typical symptoms that make fighting cancer that much harder. Reiki can also reduce pain from sciatica and arthritis as well as lessen the
effects of insomnia and menopause.
Move More Freely, Without Pain
Along with emotional healing, and aiding in the fight of infectious diseases, Reiki healing can also increase a patient’s range of motion. A study conducted by the Evidence-Based Complimentary and Alternative Medicine Journal compared how effectively Reiki healing and physical therapy restored movement for a distressed area. Reiki was proven to be effective at restoring range of motion for the affected limb. Study participants concluded that Reiki healing targeted the structures themselves rather than the symptomatic pain to treat the issue. If you are looking for an alternative, non-invasive and holistic way to treat pain or discomfort, Reiki healing is an option to consider.
